Indications:

GASTROGARD™ is a palatable oral paste based on omeprazole, indicated for the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers in the horse.

Dosage:

Treatment of gastric ulcers: initially administer GastroGard at a dose of 4 mg/kg b.w. of omeprazole, once daily for 28 consecutive days, and then continue with administration of a dose of 1 mg/kg b.w. of omeprazole, once daily for 28 consecutive days, in order to reduce the incidence of relapse during treatment.In case of relapse, it is recommended to repeat the treatment at a dose of 4 mg/kg b.w. of omeprazole.  

Prevention of gastric ulcers: administer GastroGard at a dose of 1 mg/kg b.w. of omeprazole once daily.

Administer orally.

GastroGard is effective in horses of any breed and kept under a wide range of conditions; in foals from 4 weeks of age and with body weight over 70 kg; and in breeding stallions.   It is recommended to combine the treatment with appropriate changes in management methods and husbandry practices.
