Strongid is indicated for the treatment and control of parasitic infestations caused by:
Strongylus vulgaris
Strongylus edentatus
Strongylus equinus
Cyatostomumspp. (Trichonemaspp.)
Triodontophorusspp.
Oxyurisspp.
Parascarisspp.
Anoplocephala perfoliata
The product is also effective against strains of small strongyles resistant to benzimidazoles.
Dosage:
Strongid must be administered orally to horses, ponies and foals at least 8 weeks of age. It is not necessary to fast the animal before or after administration.
The following method of administration is recommended:
1. Determine the weight of the animal to be treated as accurately as possible.
2. Position the dosing ring along the plunger according to the animal’s weight.
3. Remove the cap from the syringe.
4. Place the paste on the back of the animal’s tongue. For this purpose, insert the tip of the syringe through the lip commissure, direct the syringe toward the back of the oral cavity and press the plunger. Administering the product with this technique makes it unlikely that it will be regurgitated. To facilitate swallowing, raise the animal’s head by placing one hand under the jaw.
The recommended dose for the treatment and control of strongyles, oxyurids and ascarids (excluding tapeworms) is 6.6 mg of pyrantel base per kg b.w.
